Blogging has turned out to be a lucrative career for some people these days. Most of them have quit their day jobs just to concentrate on writing posts which are earning them huge commissions from the ads they post on their blogs. The question for most people planning to follow suit, however, is not how to start a blog but rather what to blog about in order to get more readers interested in their posts and, of course, to get more clicks and sales from the ads on their blogs. There could in fact be many choices that could be considered bankable enough. But a very recent trend that has been emerging is journalism blogging. Journalism blogging is a way of reporting events through blogs instead of the traditional media such as newspapers, radio and tv. One advantage of journalism blogging is it doesn’t take too long for news of an event to reach the public. Once the blogger has his information and a number of images, he is able to upload everything at once and will get the post published in seconds. This speeds up the time that word about the event spreads to people and this makes blogging a very good medium for increasing public awareness about things happening all over the globe.
One more advantage of blogging is for news to be presented with the personal perspective of the blogger. The events are reported from a very human vantage point. Somehow, the event becomes a personal experience even to people who may be on the other side of the globe. It allows for greater sympathy and empathy to be elicited from the public as they watch an event unfold before their eyes and in a manner that is more touching than any other conventional means of reporting. With blogs, people are also able to give their comments on the event that is being reported. In cases of catastrophes or calamities, this makes a very good venue for people to pool their resources together and be able to help those who are in the most unlucky of situations. More voices are heard and more possibilities are explored. Again, reporting incidents like this through traditional means would take a lot of time for help to come but with blogs, everything can be organized in a matter of hours and this is expected to make a very big difference as far decreasing the time it takes to make help available for affected communities is concerned. When it comes to making money blogging, the question is no longer how to blog but rather how to make blog posts more interesting to people so more traffic comes in and more ads are clicked. With the most interesting stories, making money blogging surely won’t be a feat.

Work at home moms are getting online and blogging their way into home successful home businesses. Blogs are here to stay, and many Wahms are taking advantage of the trend. Making money with blogs is a popular choice for many work at home moms. Blogs are simple to set up, and relatively easy to update. This is especially true when you compare blogs to other types of websites. Within just a few minutes, you can set up a professional looking blog for free and start your Wahm blogging business.
A web blog is an easy to update web site that looks similar to a journal. Entries are made at a minimum of each week, and the newest entries appear at the top. Entries are normally short articles of 200 to 500 words. Readers visit the blog or read the new blog entries through a blog reading program. Readers can also comment on entries and provide links between their own blogs and your blog.
With blogs, the opportunities are wide open. Choosing a blog topic is as easy as looking at your own life for inspiration. There are blogs about everything from celebrity news to bathroom cleaning tips. Before you start a blog, do some research on the Internet to see if people are interested in your possible blog topic. Your topic doesn’t have to be popular, but it does have to have a dedicated group of people who are interested in the topic.
When you settle on a topic, make sure to stay within a moderately small “niche.” The term niche is used to describe a group of people who have a comparable interest. There are big niches – similar to working at home – and small niches – like tips for teaching your cat to sit on the toilet. Try to find a happy medium between a trendy topic and a niche interest so your blog has a lot of readers. Some topics, like working at home or parenting, are too broad and have too much competition for readers.
You are able to set up your web blog through a free blogging platform, like www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com. There are also a half dozen others to select from. The blogging platform will walk you through making your first entry into your blog.
After you’ve made a few entries into your blog, its time to get paid to blog. This means you’ll be making individual changes to your blog in order to make money. One of the most popular ways to gain income from a blog is by using a contextual advertising program, like Google Adsense or Chitika. Contextual advertising pays you for each time a reader clicks on one of the advertising links on your page. The advertising program will scan your blog entries for keywords, and then place advertising on your page that relates to your page content.
For example, if you have a blog on children’s television and write an article about Sesame Street, the ads appearing next to that article will have to do with that program. They might be links to shopping for Sesame Street items, or an ad for vintage Sesame Street collectables selling on ebay.
One thing to note with contextual advertising is that you won’t have to worry about placing the ads yourself each day. Once you place the code on your blog, the program will automatically refresh the advertising when you make a new post. You will be paid several cents for each click. It doesn’t seem like a lot per click, but it sure does add up quickly.
Contextual advertising is just one way of making money with blogs. You can also make product recommendations and suggest information products (e-books) to your readers. Each time someone buys a product you recommend, you will get a commission. Many bloggers find that making gentle product recommendations throughout their blogs are a way to garner extra income.
Finally, some companies will pay bloggers to create posts that suggest certain products or services. These companies give a few dollars per post, and are fairly easy to use. The only drawback is that you’ll have advertising posts throughout your blog content. However, many bloggers have found a way around this by putting “And now a word from our sponsors” at the beginning of each of their required advertising posts. Doing this will help any advertizing appear to be more natural.

Blogging for dollars was practically unheard of a few years ago. What started as online diaries and journals has grown to become a lucrative moneymaking venture for many bloggers. You, too, can start blogging for profit and cash in on the moneymaking potentials of blogging.
How to Get Started in Blogging
The initial step to begin web blogging for money is to set up your own weblog. Although there are some people who make a living blogging for other people, the best income opportunities can be acquired through your own blog.
Many people are attracted to blogging for the reason that it can potentially earn dollars, but don’t start a blog exclusively because of money. You must have the passion, knowledge and expertise about what you want to blog about. If you write good content on your blog, it’s not difficult to make money blogging.
Lucrative weblogs thrive on superior content and a vibrant readership. If your blog have those two characteristics, the cash will flow. Putting up good content and attracting readers take time, so don’t expect to make money from your blog instantly.
How Your Blog Makes Money
Once your weblog has a lot of substance and a steady base of readers, you can begin taking advantage of multiple income sources for your weblog. Advertising is still the number one source of income for websites – blogs included.
The easiest way to start blogging for profit is to place contextual ads on your blog, such as Google Adsense. These advertising programs serve text ads based on the content of your blog. So if your blog is all about flowers, Adsense will show ads about flowers. Other contextual ad networks are Chitika eMiniMalls, Adbrite, Tribal Fusion and Bidvertiser, to name a few.
You can also promote affiliate products on your blog. For example, if your blog tackles web design, you can promote books about web design through Amazon’s affiliate program and earn commissions from every sale. You can sign up at affiliate programs such as Amazon, Clickbank, CommissionJunction and Linkshare, and look for products to promote.
Don’t Quit Your Job Yet
Blogging for profit sounds enticing, but don’t quit your present job just so that you can start blogging. Few blogs earn enough money to allow their owners to become full-time bloggers. Except you have an enormously popular blog with a lot of visitors every day, it’s advisable to have supplementary sources of income aside from blogging.
With numerous income opportunities for your blog, it’s now easier than ever to be blogging for profit. Just focus on providing good, quality information for your blog, and web blogging for dollars will be a certainty.

The idea of blogging for dollars has become increasingly popular among people who own and operate blogs. What used to be an innocent hobby has become a profitable activity, so much so that some bloggers have began working full-time on their blogs.
Web blogging for dollars is relatively easy, requiring no special skills and talent aside from a passion and commitment for a specific topic or subject. You don’t require a university degree to start blogging for dollars. Anyone with an expertise on a specific subject can create their own blog and start making money blogging.
Know What to Blog About
Prior to you start blogging, it’s crucial to be acquainted with what to weblog about. It may perhaps be a topic that you know very well and in which you have the enthusiasm and commitment to write about it. It would be a bad idea to blog about something that you have no interest or knowledge in just because it is very popular. If you don’t know how to cook a complete meal, it makes no sense to start a blog about Italian cuisine.
Find an interest, hobby or activity that you love to do, then blog about it. It doesn’t matter how popular or how obscure the topic is, as long as you have the passion and interest to write about the subject.
Build a Blog and They Will Come
It’s very easy to set up a blog these days, thanks to blog publishing platforms similar to Blogger. There are essentially two main types of blogs – the remotely hosted blogs such as those available using Blogger and LiveJournal, and the self-installed blogs using software like WordPress and MovableType.
Which type of blog should you choose? Each type of blog has its own advantages and disadvantages, so choosing your blog depends on your own preferences. If you want a personal blog and you want blogging to be as easy as possible, then have your blog hosted remotely. But if you want a more professional-looking blog with a lot of features, create your blog using a software like WordPress, hosted on your own web server. It is quite interesting to learn how to set up a blog.
Monetizing Your Blog
When you see that your blog already has a loyal readership, you can start placing ads, affiliate links and other income streams on your blog. The most popular sources of income for bloggers are:
• Advertising programs (Google Adsense, Chitika, Adbrite, etc.)
• Pay-per-post programs (PayPerPost, ReviewMe, Blogitive, etc.)
• Affiliate programs (Amazon, CommissionJunction, Linkshare, etc.)
• Donations and tip jars
• Selling ad space and sponsorships
There are so many ways you can make money from blogging, and so many websites and companies offering cash to bloggers, that it would be wise to select only a few that provides maximum income generation. Build a blog, add good content, and you will soon be blogging for dollars.
